GB Governor requests China to establish “joint economic zone” in Hunza

Gilgit, December 25: The Gilgit Baltistan government has made a proposal for setting up a “joint economic zone” in Hunza to enhance trade with China.
This proposal was made by governor GB Pir Karam Ali Shah in a meeting with Deputy Governor of Xinjiang.
Informing the Xinjiang leader about investment opportunities in the sectors of Hydro Power, Tourism and Mining in GB, the Governor said that Gilgit Baltistan and Xinjiang are neighbor provinces and Chinese businessman should benefit from the opportunities of investment”.
He also said that GB government is ready to give special facilities to Chinese investors. He also said that 50 percent share in power projects can also be given to investors
Deputy Governor of Xinjiang on this occasion assured that he would play his role to enhance trade ties between the two regions.
We appreciate the efforts made by the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Pir Karam Ali Shah in inviting the Chinese investors in Gilgit Baltistan. We have lands to provide for the economic zone in the Hunza-Nagar, in Gojal, the largest Tehsil of Gilgit Baltistan.
