Chitral: AIOU vice chancellor deep in conversation with DCO Chitral

CHITRAL: Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University Islamabad (AIOU), Professor Dr. Nazir Ahmad Sangi, arrived here on a 5-day today. He has come to establish regional campus of the distance learning university, which is working throughout the country, imparting education to thousands of people.
He met the DCO of Chitral and asked him to provide land for construction of the university’s regional campus. The VC said that the campus will be constructed at the cost of a 100 million rupees. coordination officer Chitral and offer him that if district administration provide them piece of land they will establish a building with the cost of 100 million. The VC said that AIOU’s proposed regional campus will have facilities for video conferencing, study centers and examination halls. The land issue will be discussed with the Chief Secretary of KPK, it was decided during the meeting.
In conversation with Kalash students
The VC later visited Kalash valley and met students at Bumborat. He assured them for appointing a separate regional coordinator for Kalash valleys to facilitate students of three valleys regarding providing them admission forms, date sheet and other information. He also stressed upon the local people to provide them land for construction of a study center of AIOU in the valley. During his visit to Kalasha Dur (Museum) he discussed different issues with Museum In-charge Akram Hussain and emphasized them to must preserve their centuries old culture. He was warmly welcomed by both Muslim and Kalash people on arrival to the valley. An education conference was held at Commerce college hall where Vice chancellor was chief guest and the conference was presided over by Sahibuddin Principal of the college. Speakers on the occasion expressed their views and thanked him for paying visit to Chitral Principal of Govt. Centennial Model High School Chitral Ziauddin in his welcome address demanded for establishment of Regional campus at Chitral, store of books and materials, including technical educations and subjects in courses of AIOU and vehicle for its office at Chitral. He also demanded for increasing rumination of tutors and resources persons.
Dr. Nazir assured them that he is trying of his best to get a piece of land for this purposes and he also stressed upon the participants to help them in this connection. He emphasized on teachers to increase number of students from 2600 to 11000 so that will be caused for more benefits of this area. He strictly warned them to discourage cheating and perform your duty honestly. He also announced increasing of examination centers at Chitral to facilitate their students at their door step. He pointed out that no female participant is present in the hall and lamented this discrimination by stressing them to must involve female to enhance their learning skill and improve their knowledge capacity. 6 regional coordinators would be appointed at different parts of Chitral he added. A large number of teachers, tutors and students participated in education conference.
