Renowned scholar, Alwaiz Shah Jahan passed away in Gilgit

Gilgit, Nov 8: Renowned Ismaili scholar, Al-Waiz Shah Jahan passed away in the evening today at around 5:30pm, at the age of 73.  Born in 1940 in Hussainabad-Shinaki Hunza to Khalifa Sana Khan and Bibi Sultana, late Shah Jahan completed his primary and middle education from Middle School Karimabad, now known as Karimabad High School.

He later joined Ismaili Tariqa and Religious Education Board (ITREB) in 1978, where he continued working till 2010, as an Al-Waiz, scholar and a teacher. During his 32 years long career, late Shah Jahan contributed significantly towards intellectual of the community, working in Ghizer, Hunza, Gilgit and Chitral.

He was a strong supporter and preacher of unity among all sects of Islam, universal brotherhood and respect for humanity and love all for the creatures of Allah Almighty.

His services won him the honorary title of “Huzur Mukhi” in 2007.

Funeral rituals will take place tomorrow, Friday 9th Nov at his home located in the vicinity of Jamatkhana no.3, Sultanabad, Gilgit.
