PESHAWAR – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said that people of Chitral would benefit from the implementation of provincial power generation action plan, as it would usher in a new era of prosperity and development in the mountainous district.

The projects being started by the present government in communication and education sectors would usher in the area into the new phase of prosperity and development.

He expressed these views in a meeting with a delegation comprising Nawabzada Salahuddin, Shahzada Sikandar-ul-Mulk and Ameerullah Khan Yaftali of Laspur Harchin, here on Friday. ANP Provincial Secretary, Arbab Tahir was also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that his seven visits to Chitral clearly depicted the interest of government to address the basic issues of the area. He said that campus of Abdul Wali Khan University in Chitral and the mega project of Abdul Wali Khan Bypass are the gifts of the government that would cast positive impacts on the lifestyle of area people. He said that establishment of Girls Degree College Drosh, construction of Science Bloc in Chitral Girls Degree College, provision of buses, installation of dialysis machines in District Headquarters Hospital and water supply schemes in Golain and Drosh are the sincere efforts of government to enhance the provision of basic amenities.

Ameer Haider Khan Hoti said after devolution of powers under 18th amendment an action plan has been formulated to generate 2100 MW electricity. He said that 21MW Lawai Project has been initiated under the action plan that would be completed in six years with financial implications of Rs. 12 billion.

He said that Rs.5.5 billion hydropower projects of Shosh Ghar Zandwali and Sho Ghor Seen would also be completed with the partnerships of private sector. He said that the projects would not only generate 276MW electricity but would also increase revenue volume besides addressing the issue of energy crisis.

The Chief Minister said that Chitral- Garam Chashma Road would soon be inaugurated while Rs 1.62 billion rupees would be spend on Buni-Bazantur and Buni-Mastuj-Shandur Road.

Regarding the division of Chitral into two districts, the CM said the administrative changes in the district at this moment were not possible due to ongoing process of census. Source: ONLINE
