Islamabad signs pact with Beijing for establishment of “Pak-China Economic Corridor”
Islamabad, July 5: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal and Chairman National Development and Reforms Commission of People’s Republic of China, Xu Shao Shi, today signed a pact regarding the establishment of Pak-China Economic Corridor from Gawadar to Kashghar.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, CM of Punjab and Dr. Abdul Malik, CM of Balochistan were present during the signing ceremony.
Ironically, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, or any other elected representative from the Gilgit-Baltistan was not present during the negotiations, or signing ceremony.
It is pertinent to note that it is Gilgit-Baltsitan which holds the key for success of this mega project, but the political leadership of the region has completely been ignored by the PMLN led federal government.
Dear editor you have noted an important juxtaposition on this deal but what else do you expect from inviting a CM who spends most of his days in the capital then his own constituency.
I’m sure there will be consultations with GB leaders but we should give some time to PMLn for performance. Both Mehdi shah and naqaim ali shah will continue to do business as usual.
The idea is that hopefully in 2014 pmln will be in government in GB. This process takes time but sadly Gbians will have to cope with mismanagement and corruption for another year until a new leadership is elected (hopefully).
So a wise decision by the GOP just don’t expect any break throughs, yet!
Shahzaib .
Well، beggars are not choosers. What is the share of GB revenue in national exchequer? hardly 1 billion…I exaggerate…and how much it receives?. If the KKH gets blocked for a week. The Down Country chaps know this. GB seems to plunge into drought. So what representation? Compare the Development of so-called elected government with the previous federally imposed government?

We are not expecting anything good from PML(n),they are repeating the same what they did in their previous tenures with the people of GB, i-e depriving the people of GB from their basic rights. In fact the local govt is failed to deliver but this doesn’t means the Federal govt should totally neglect our representatives in other words the GBians.
