Relief goods distributed among flood victims in Chitral

Chitral, August 22: Humanitarian Concern International (HCI), with the support of Birir Development Organization Chitral (BDOC), distributed relief items among the flood victims of Reshun, Drosh and Jughor villages of Chitral district. The relief items included 1.775 million rupees worth food and nonfood items and .93 million rupees cash payments for rehabilitation of the damaged houses.
The organization has also extended financial support for channel alignment and de-siltation in order to avoid flooding of Drosh valley.
Atiqur Rehman, Program Manager, BDOC informed this scribe that relief items were distributed through youth forums and village committees at Mosque level after assessment of the lists of affected families prepared by district disaster management authority and line departments . He said the organization compensated 25 families for fully damaged houses and 72 families for partially damaged houses in Reshun to ensure a quick reconstruction and rehabilitation. Similarly, 40 affected families were compensated in Orghuch village and 49 in Jughor village, he informed.
The affected communities have praised Ali Nawaz, Country Director, HCI for compensating the affected people of Chitral.
HCI, since 1980, is providing emergency relief in natural calamity hit areas and is operational in Chitral since last two years. HCI, during 2012, had distributed 4 million rupees worth relief items among the flood victims of Chitral.
