Karachi based students from Gilgit-Baltistan meet Chief Secretary Hotiana

Karachi, December 24: (PR) A delegation of students representing all regions of Gilgit Baltistan met Chief Secretary Sindh, Mr. Sajjad Saleem Hotiana at Chief Secretary House Karachi. The meeting was organized by Hunza Gilgit Ismaili Students Federation (HGISF) in order to convey the concerns of students of Gilgit-Baltistan residing in Sindh in general and Karachi in particular. Chief Secretary warmly welcomed the student representatives and paid attention to each and every point of concern raised by them.

Major issues raised by the student included Limited Quotas for Gilgit-Baltistan students in various universities of Sindh, Revision of Category System in Karachi University for GB Students and Internship Programs in Sindh Secretariat. After listening to the issues the Chief Secretary showed his deep concern and assured the students that steps will be taken to accommodate young learners from GB. Further he said that GB is of special importance for Pakistan and therefore special arrangements must be made to ensure utilization of high valued talent from the beautiful mountainous region. It was decided that a detailed write-up should be prepared for each point of concern before taking further steps.

CS2Girls also highlighted the need for a Ladies Hostel in Karachi however the Chief Secretary said that the matter can be better handled at community level.

Mr. Sajjad Saleem Hotiana also invited people of Gilgit Baltistan to participate fully in upcoming Sindh Cultural Festival, which is a mega event to be held in Sindh Province. He said that GB is a culturally rich region and it should be fully displayed in the festival.

 It is noteworthy that Mr. Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has a special association with people of GB since the time he was Chief Secretary of Gilgit Baltistan. Due to his special interest many projects have been completed on time in GB.

The meeting concluded very positively and the participants had high expectations, it was further decided that such meetings can be arranged in future whenever a need is felt. Hotiana assured student representatives his support for people of GB whenever and wherever possible.
