Trophy Hunting Licences: Auction to be held on 20th November

Gilgit: Bidding for the award of trophy hunting licences will be held on the 20th of November 2014, at the office of Conservator, Wildlife and Parks, Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to a press advert, the price of Astore Markhor trophies has been set at 60,000 USD, Blue Sheep at 8,000 USD for every permit. Similarly, the price of every hunting license/permit has for Ibex has been set at 3,000 USD for foreign hunters, 100,000 PKR for national hunters and 50,000 PKR for hunters from Gilgit-Baltistan.

Four hunting licences will be auctioned for Astore Markhor, 08 for Blue Sheep and 60 licenses for hunting Ibex will be auctioned.

It is pertinent to note that the money received in lieu of trophy hunting is distributed between the government and the communities, at 20:80 ratio. The communities, generally, spend the money on local development.
