Chehlum observed in Gilgit-Baltistan with religious fervour
Gilgit-Baltistan: Despite severe weather, the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS) and other martyrs of Karbala was peacefully observed with religious fervor across Gilgit-Baltistan.
Numbers of majalis were held in GB in which noted religious scholars highlighted the importance of the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala. They highlighted different aspects of the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his teachings for the promotion of Islam.
Mourning processions were taken out from different Imambargahs. Stalls of water, milk and food were setup on the route of the processions, while medical professionals remained on procession route to deal with any emergency. Strict security measures were taken to avert any unwanted incident on the day of Chehlum of Martyrs of Karbala.
In Gilgit, the main mourning processions appeared from the Anjuman-e-Imamia Nagar and passed through its traditional route before ending in Ampari. The procession passed a 16 points resolution in which the participant demanded for an acceptable curriculum based on Islamabad agreement of 2009. It was asked to clarify the constitutional status of Gilgit-Baltistan with concrete steps to remove the long standing marginalization of the local people.
