Licenses for trophy hunting of 4 Markhors, 80 Ibexes and 14 Blue Sheep issued

GILGIT: Cheif Minister Gilgit-Baltistan Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman has said that his government is working to protect environment ,wildlife and Natural beauty like forest and glaciers in Gilgit- Baltistan.
Addressing cheques distribution ceremony to stakeholders’ of community based conservation organizations in Gilgit, the Chief Minister said that the provincial government has acquired land for construction of LPG air mix plant. This plant will initially provide gas to the consumers in Gilgit. The step was taken to minimized the usage of wood.People are cuting forests for heat in winter season, he said.
Chief Minister GB appreciated the efforts of the Department, Conservation NGOs and Communities in safeguarding and sustainable management of wildlife of the region.
The Gilgit-Baltistan wildlife department has issued permits for hunting of 4 Markhors, 80 Ibexes and 14 blue sheep for through a bidding process.
The bidding process was held in Forest Complex Gilgit last week. The highest rate offered for a Markhor was 65,700 USD, for Ibex 3,300 USD and for Blue Sheep the highest bid was of 8300 USD, Ibex.
Highest rate offered for national hunters was Rs.300,000 and 55,000 for GB based hunters.
