THQ Hospital Gulmit Gojal gets latest equipment, more staff

GULMIT: District Health Officer Dr. Zaeem Zia visited Gulmit Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and met a number of local elders.

Dr Zaeem said the department of health is working hard to improve health infrastructure in the region. He said that the THQ Gulmit Gojal has received latest equipment for ECG. He added that the hospital also has a full fledged laboratory, newly installed X-ray machine, cardiac monitor, Lab Oven, ultrasound machines and bio-metric machine to ensure staff punctuality. He said that the hospital, which caters to around 25,000 people of the Gojal Valley, has two medical officers, and four other staff members.

Locals thanked Dr. Zaeem for his efforts to equip the hospital and ensure availability of better health facilities in the region. Dr. Zaeem was also presented with gifts by the locals, as a token of appreciation for his positive contributions.

Dr. Zaeem urged the locals to avail the facilities. He said that staff will be available 24/7 at the hospital to cater to emergencies.

The previous government had announced that a 10-bed hospital will be established in Sost, to ensure easier access to health facilities for people living in remote valleys. So far the project has not made any significant progress.
