Eight arrested for murdering Gilgit man in Karachi

KHAIRPUR: The Rangers on Friday arrested five suspects involved in a murder of man in Karachi from near Khairpur, ARY News reported.

According to details, the paramilitary force first arrested three suspect facilitators Basharat, Afraaz Gul and Ghufran. Upon interrogation, one of the facilitators, Ghufran, revealed that the murderers had fled to Gilgit by road from Sohrab Goth after killing Mohammad Ali, also hailing from Gilgit.

Ali’s tortured and bullet-riddled body was recovered from Lines Area in Karachi on April 10, a statement from the Rangers said.

Upon receiving an intelligence tip-off, the Rangers conducted an operation near Khairpur, in which Waqas Hussain, Zeeshan Haider, Muhammad Saleem, Sohail Ahmed and Shabbar Hassan were arrested.

The five suspects have admitted to killing Ali over personal enmity, whereas weapons were also from their possession. Later, the suspects were handed over to police for further investigation.

In a similar action earlier in the day, Sindh Rangers had arrested 12 suspects during raids in different areas of Karachi.

The suspects were involved in several crimes including robbery and street crimes. The raids were conducted in Gulberg, Bilal Colony, Nabi Bukhsh, Garden, Risala and Saudabad, said the spokesperson of Sindh Rangers. The spokesman said ammunition and looted valuable items were also recovered from their possession.

He said the suspects were handed over to police for legal action.

Likewise, on April 7, Rangers had apprehended nine suspects during raids in different areas of Karachi and recovered weapons from their possession. Via ARY News
