Hero of liberation war, Muhammad Baig, passed away in Gulmit, Gojal

Islamabad:
A veteran of Gilgit-Baltistan’s war of independence (1947-49) and a renowned social worker, Mr. Muhammad Baig, breathed his last today in his native village, Gulmit Gojal, in the upper Hunza valley.
He was around 90 years old. He was laid to rest in the presence of thousands of people.
Late Mr. Muhammad Baig, after retirement from the forces, also served as Captain of the Ismaili Volunteers, a voluntary social organization for a long period of time.
He will always be remembered for his passion, dedication and his services to the community.

What a great man! Late Muhammad Baig uncle, a true volunteer in real sense. He had served the community as a captain of the volunteers- heading team of well organzied young people in the past who could always put their best to help the communites during the normal course of time and in bad days as well.
His quality of leadership, indeginous knowledge,excellent communicating skills in Urdu, Broshaski and Wahkhi and interest for contributing to community development always attracted his presence to represent Gojal in publict meetings and in resolving conflicts in the area.
He used to enjoy meeting/ talking with people who have been to the universities and are working in orgaizations at key positions. He had always high expectations from educated people to work for common interest of the people living in those mountain settlement.
He himself demonstrated love for education- by encouraging/ supporting his immidiate family members to get good education and better jobs.
Lots of prayers for his soul to rest in eternal peace and condolances to the family members including Ahmad Baig, Shakeel, Maj Zaheer, Rehbar sb, Muzafar, Jaffar and other family members.
Great people are always missed and remembered. In social context many people have recorded history in the region and area as our great teacher sultan Ali and Chairman Ghulamud din. Likewise the selfless services of Muhammad baig for community and area would be always recalled in the region. May Allah rest his soul in eternal peace and give courage to his family to bear this great loss.
