Skardu, July 14: Gilgit-Baltistan was jolted on a number of days by earthquakes measuring up to 5.2 on the Richter Scale. An immediate impact of the tremors was a flashflood in Darel Valley which left hundreds of households displaced, as their houses got washed away or damaged. At almos the same time, several houses in Rondu area of Baltistan were also cracked and damaged, leaving the families displaced. The victims are in dire need of the provincial government and the administration’s attention. These photographs can help depict the current situation in Tallu, Maliyar, Ganji and Tallu Broq localities of the Rondu valley, Baltistan.
Rondu is one of the largest valleys of Baltistan. It is home to around 65,000 people and located almost 65km away from the main Skardu Town.
