Sost & Gulmit: A NATCO bus carrying several traders left for China today. The Khunjrav pass had been opened by the governments of Pakistan and China to facilitate the besieged 25, 000 people of Gojal valley. The traders will visit Xinjiang province and bring back essential items for consumption of the local population.
Supply of goods to the valley has stopped due to the destruction and blockade of KKH between Attabad and Ayeenabad as a result of the fatal landslide that took place on January 4, this year.
In the meantime Shakeel Ahmed (aka Pa-Pa Shakeel) of the Pindi Karvan Traders Company has also started selling rice in parts of the Gojal valley at subsidized rates. The rice imported from China was stuck in the valley due to blockade of the highway. According to our reporter a 40 Kg bag of rice is being sold for rupees 1200. Original price of a 40 Kg bag was 2000 rupees, reportedly.
