Rockfall kills labourer on Karakoram Highway
HUNZA-NAGAR, April 9: A labourer working on the Karakoram Highway (KKH) was killed after being crushed in a rockfall near Chalt village in Nagar, police said on Thursday.
This was the first fatality during the ongoing expansion of the highest land route that connects Pakistan with China.
Nasir Hussain from Hoper village was fatally wounded when he was hit by falling rocks and died while being shifted to the hospital in Gilgit.
Another labourer was also critically injured in the incident.
Blasting carried out as part of the road expansion work has loosened the rocks, posing threat of landslides. Source

Until the expansion project is completed these causalities are highly vulnerable, so immediate safety and precautionary majors should be taken from the contractor as well the Local Administration side
