Gilgit, July 24: Control of the social action program (SAP) schools is being handed over the National Education Foundation. This will help more efficient management of the system and help resolve issues being faced by students and teachers of SAP schools. This was stated by Babar Yauqub, chief secretary of Gilgit – Baltistan.
A total of 540 SAP schools are providing education to over 50, 000 students in all the seven districts of Gilgit – Baltistan. Over 1100 teachers work at these schools. The teachers and students had been victim of ad hoc policies of the government towards SAP schools.
It is being believed that regularization of the schools will help reduce many hardships faced by the teachers and students.
