Islamabad, November 1: The detention of GBDA leaders and expulsion of two sons of Col Mirza Hasan Khan from Gilgit has triggered condemnation and protests across Gilgit – Baltistan. The local administration of Gilgit city had arrested scores of nationalist leaders and activists from the Garhi Bagh locality of Gilgit city.
According to reports Nadir Hasan Mirza and Col Wajahat Hasan Mirza were forced to board a PIA flight and expelled from Gilgit – Baltistan. Entry of the two brothers in Gilgit was also banned for a period of two months. “This is a negation of the promises of liberty and democratic rights”, said Shafqat Ali Inquillabi, a young nationalist leader, while talking to Pamir Times. He also said that some activists of BNF were arrested when they tried to meet the detained leaders at Cantt police station in Gilgit city. The detained leaders and activists were initially kept at the city police station but during the night they were shifted to Cantt police station near Airport.
A protest against the detention of GBDA chairman, Engineer Aman Ullah Khan, senior vice chairman of KNM, Advocate Umar Farooq and other nationalist workers, was held in Abbotabad, under the banner of Karakuram National Movement and Karakuram Students Organization. According to reports some students were detained in Abbotabad for blocking the KKH.
Balore Thinkers Forum and Progressive Youth Front have also announced to block KKH in Hunza for two hours against detention of the nationalist leaders in Gilgit city.
Similar protests have also been planned by NSF in different parts of Kashmir, Shafqat Inquillabi informed Pamir Times. He also said that the nationalists would contact Amnesty International, UN and other international bodies against denial of the rights of peaceful protests to the nationalist circles of Gilgit – Baltistan. He termed the detention of local leaders as an “independence day gift” to the people of Gilgit – Baltistan.
pakistani establishment se aur kya twaqo kr saktey he?jinnah or fatima jinna k saath kya saluk kya inhu ne? or ab mohsin Gilgit Baltistan ke betuun ke saath bhi yahi ho raha he. or ham mazey se so rahe he!, PPP, PML, or MQM ko godh me le kar! mujhey bhi sharam nahi aati he yaar!
I salute these sons of soil. They are heroes of our land. They call our people to wake up and see what PAKISTAN and their puppet government is doing with our land. We may be innocent but we are not foolish we need self governance and don’t want to see the face of Kayra ( Panjabi ) dictating our governor and shameless CM. We demand that these sons of soil be the president and prime minister of the state of Balor. These leaders have fore sight and that is why they don’t accept a province ( Gilgit – Baltistan ), a province with out any senate and national assembly representation. This is a fraud and our people have seen the elections and this fraud scheme like a polo match. Now the match has finished and everyone has returned home for a sound sleep. Wake up or your children will become a wooden ball to be used by polo players ( Pakistan ), as they have played with us in 1988 and Kargil.
