Pir Karam Ali Shah sworn in as second Governor of Gilgit – Baltistan

Gilgit, February 1 (TR): The newly appointed Governor of Giglit – Baltistan, Pir Karam Ali Shah, took oath of his office today at a ceremony held at the historic China Bagh, in Gilgit. Justice Nawaz Abbasi, Chief Judge Supreme Appellate Court Gilgit – Baltistan, administered the oath of office to GB’s second governor.

The oath taking ceremony was attended by outgoing interim-governor and speaker GBLA, Wazir Baig, Commander of the Force Command Northern Areas (FCNA), cabinet members, bureaucrats and other notables.

The Governor later laid wreaths of flower on the Yaadgar-e-Shuhada and prayed for souls of the soldiers who laid down their lives to liberate the region from clutches of Kashmiri Dogra Raj in 1948.

Talking to the media, Karam Ali Shah said that he would play a prominent role in bringing peace back to the region. He appealed to the public to help the government in establishing rule of law in the region.
