KADO and GB P&D join hands to use ICT for women empowerment in Gilgit – Baltistan
Hunza, May 06 (PR): Local products can be marketed globally with the help of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and for this all people, including women need to learn IT skills.
These views were expressed by Imran Sikandar Baloch, GB Secretary for Planning and Development, while talking at the inaugural ceremony of a training for ICT trainers organized by Karakuram Area Development Organization (KADO), at Karimabad ,Hunza.
The project aims to ‘impart ICT trainings to women of all seven districts of Gilgit-Baltistan’.
Speaking at the occasion, Chairman Amjad Ayub, said that KADO is an indigenous development organization established by the civil society with the vision of enabling the creation of a healthy society “which is balanced spiritually, economically, socially and culturally and works on a mission to develop the local capacities for equitable and sustainable development.”
While narrating history of KADO’s projects, Mr Amjad Ayub also announced that KADO will also start working in the areas of Microfinance, livelihood development and disaster emergency response in the times ahead.
The newly appointed CEO, Mubeen Muhammad, during a presentation informed that 34 IT centres have jointly been established by GB P&D Department and KADO in all 7 districts of Gilgit-Baltistan, with a focus on women empowerment . He also highlighted the achievements of KADO and vowed to work for all regions.
