[Obituary] Wali Baig of Shimshal Valley passed away in Islamabad
Mr. Wali Baig, father of Farman Ali, editor Express Tribune, passed away in Islamabad last night.
Mr. Wali was under medication for some time at Al-Shifa Hospital, Islamabad and the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi.
Other children of late Wali Baig include Abdullah Bai, Daulat Wali Baig and their two sisters.
Late Wali Baig was an enthusiastic cultural and social activist and he played an important role in preserving and promoting the Pamiri culture of Gojal Valley.

Bech Wali Baig (Behishti) was a very noble and quite personality. His cool character was an iconic figure of Shimshal valley.
His contributions to the civil society of Shimshal will be remembered not only by Shimshalies but the whole Gojalies.
I extend my deepest condolences to his sons Farman, Abduallah Bai, Doulat Wali Baig and his daughters, other family members, relatives and his friends.

A very sad news. I did not know about the sad news at the very right time in Islamabad and could only manage to meet some of the the family members in Islamabad after the partial funeral and the dead body left for Gilgit. I knew late brother Wali Baig for the past 30 plus years and he was a true volunteer for any community action. Always supported education and cultural interventions and demonstrated that from his home.
My family and I offer our condolences to our sister, Farman Ali, Bai, Doulat;Baig and pray that his soul may rest in eternal peace.
