Gilgit, February 4: Former judge of Lahore High Court Justice Rana Muhammad Arshad Khan has been appointed as Chief Judge of Supreme Appellate Court of Gilgit Baltistan and notification of his appointment has been issued from Prime Minister Secretariat.
The new Chief Judge will take oath of his office 0n 8th February. Governor Gilgit-Balitstan Pir Karam Ali Shah will administer the oath.
The office of CJ was vacant from last month after the retirement of, Nawaz Abbasi, former chief of SAC.
It is pertinent to mention that Justice Jaffer Shah was also in the run of the Chief Judge and some days ago the news of his appointment as acting CJ had also appeared in several media reports.
Several political and social leaders in GB had been campaigning to appoint a local Chief Judge of the Supreme Appellate Court.
poor Jaffar shah lost his fortune….sect+party didnt work..
@Sprindand,can u pls explain why it didnt work?
We would expect with the management of Pamir times to never publish a news unless or until it is not reliable. we are now the members of a global society and the concept of having locals or none locals have become orthodox. Now the people are conscious about result and action oriented. The governing officials in whichever capacity they are regardless of their geographical locations, If they are committed with their profession and area they make a name in the history of that people. I really appreciate the efforts of Retd. justice Nawaz khan Abbasi who was keen to uplift the GB. He was keen to complete the all types of pending projects. On the same line we would expect with Ranaa Muhammamd Arshad khan and his team that they would make further improvement in the systems and service provider agencies to work for GB effectively and efficiently. Once again I want to repeat it that in some departments basic human rights are threatened and voilated which would lead all of us toward destruction and moral declination as well.
