The archaeological sites are endangered because of the proposed Diamer Bhasha dam. Experts and local people have demanded of the government to protect the region’s heritage. Chilas has historically been a gateway to the Indus and Gandhara valley civilization. Buddhist travelers have left their marks on huge rocks, which need immediate attention of organizations concerned with national heritage, culture and history.
