2.5 hours delay in CM’s arrival irks members of peace committee, stage walk out

Gilgit, June 7: Several members of Gilgit Peace Committee staged a token walk out from a gathering after the chief minister, Syed Mehdi Shah, failed to come after a lapse of 2.5 hours.
According to details, the government of GB had gathered elders, social leaders and activists to discuss peace initiatives and law and order situation in the region. The gathering was supposed to be addressed by the chief minister at around 12 O’clock but he failed to appear till 2:30 pm. Bored by the long waiting and feeling neglected several members of the peace committee staged a token walk out, leaving several chairs empty. Strong words were exchanged between some PPP legislators and the irked peace committee members when the former tried to stop the later from walking out of the gathering.
Chief Minister after his arrival said that people should have “waited for peace”. He said that those who couldn’t wait for him for 3 hours at the peace gathering spend several hours outside his office, for personal works.
