Gilgit -bound plane catches fire, passengers including GB governor safe

Our Correspondent

Islamabad: A tyre of a Gilgit-bound airplane (PK – 605) operated by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) caught fire this morning. The passengers, including Gilgit-Baltistan governor Syed Pir Karam Ali Shah and GB Home Secretary, were evacuated unhurt.

According to PIA sources, the airplane was taking off for Gilgit when its wheels caught fire. Radio Pakistan reports that the plane skidded off the runway after catching fire. The frequency of hazards related to airplanes operated by PIA has increased exponentially during the last couple of years. Last year several lives were lost in the Margallah air-crash, involving the privately operated AirBlue Company.

  1. Thanks God for saving the precious lives but I should say PIA is losing its reputation locally, nationally and as well as internationally. I wish the leadership should understand about whats happening in this Department.

    1. well said Hamid, safety must come first, the leadership need to take and be held responsible for poor maintainance of aircraft

  2. Thanks preciuos lioves are saved but it is the Govt who functions the PIA. They are buzy in curruption and collecting with both hands. Governor and other authorities should direct it to function well. And think it can be a message for higher authorities to do justice with GB public.

  3. Thanks God our great friend was flying in same plane, he is safe…. accidents with machinery natural but humans have to take precautionary measure…
