Unity Gala brings the colours of Pakistan to Gilgit

Gilgit, May 13: A three-day “Unity Gala” provided the entertainment-starved people of Gilgit much needed moments of happiness, peace and tranquility, while also acquainting them with the cultural diversity of Pakistan. From the whirling drummers of Punjab and the Attan performers of the Pakhtun Tribal Areas to the energetic dancers of Sindh and Balochistan, the artists were able to lift the spirits of the Gilgits who came out in large numbers to witness the performances.
The Peace Unity Gala 2013 had been arranged by the Pakistan Army with the help of the Tourism and Culture Department and local civil society organizations, with the objective of providing opportunities of entertainment and relaxation to the people of the region.
Local artists from various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan also performed different items during the three days, ably depicting the region’s cultural diversity.
Stalls of handicrafts and other traditional and other products had been set up, representing all parts of Pakistan.
