Chitral, February 16: Women in Bakarabad village have to walk for more than a while to be able to fetch clean drinking water. Their village does not have clean drinking water. They have to walk, cans on head, in severe weather everyday, to a nearby stream which is anything but clean. On their way back, the women have to climb a steep slope which makes it even harder.

The contaminated water is then used for cooking, cleaning kitchen utensils and other daily needs, which poses serious threat for the health of the people.
A water pump that had been installed in their village to lift water has been out of operations for almost three weeks because of electricity failure.

The local people, especially women, have appealed to the government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to look into the matter and take steps for making life easier for the populace.
