Attabad: Laborer dies after falling off a bulldozer, another one is injured

Hunza, October 28: A 24 years old laborer belonging to Nagar Khas (Nagar Valley) died while another was injured in an accident while working at the construction site of the Attabad tunnel.
According to details, Nasir Abbas of Nagar Khan and his companion were sitting on a bulldozer when its breaks failed on a slope and the huge machine hit the mountain. Nasir, reportedly, fell off the Bulldozer and died on the spot. Another worker, identified as Rasheed, belonging to Ghizar district was injured in the accident, while the two others remained safe.
The injured was shifted to Gilgit for better health care after being provided with first aid at the Aga Khan Health Center in Aliabad. The dead body of Nasir was handed over to his family after autopsy and he was later laid to rest in his native village.
It is pertinent to note that there have been many complaints about lack of safety equipment and measures especially for local laborers working for the Chinese company constructing the tunnel. Many laborers have lost their lives during the KKH realignment project, which includes construction of tunnels, road and bridges.
