Ashura Security: Contingents of Pakistan Army deployed in Astore, Gilgit and Skardu
Gilgit, October 30: Two companies of Pakistan Army have been deployed in Gilgit and one company has been deployed in Skardu, while a platoon has been deployed in Astore as part of the security measures ahead of the Ashura processions.
The deployment was made today after a high level meeting in which the overall security situation was discussed. The meeting was attended among others by the region’s Chief Secretary, FCNA Commander, heads of secret services and officials of the interior department.
The Ashura processions will be monitored from the air by choppers, while cameras and security officials will keep a vigilant eye on the roads. Sniffer dogs will also be made available to swipe procession routes and congregation sites, it was said.
Four additional companies of the paramilitary Frontier Constabulary will also be deployed.
