Indian media’s propaganda against Gilgit-Baltistan sparks protests

GILGIT: Protesters condemned the fabricated propaganda of Indian media portraying the anti-tax strikes of Awami Action Committee (AAC) as anti-state movements.

On call of AAC, political parties and civil society activists staged a protest in Gilgit on Sunday. Speakers said the protests were to force the federal and provincial governments to withdraw the taxes imposed in Giglit-Baltistan and those had nothing to do with India.

They said the struggle of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan were to integrate the region fully with Pakistan as a constitutional entity. They blamed India for increasing the problems of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan by creating unnecessary controversies. They regarded these fabricated stories as reflection of the journalistic ethics in India.

They said every person in Gilgit Baltistan is ready to fight for the security of Pakistan.

In past, the Indian media were also portraying election rallies, protests against terror attacks, protest demanding compensations and even protests of visually impaired persons as separatist uprising against Pakistan.
