NAB authorizes inquiry into embezzlement of more than 20 million rupees in Gulmit Post Office
Gilgit: National Accountability Bureau has decided to start inquiry against two post-masters who are accused of embezzling up to 20 million rupees at the Gulmit Post Office, in Gojal Valley, Hunza.
The decision was taken during the last Regional Board Meeting of the bureau.
Two cases of embezzlement will be investigated by NAB. One case involves alleged embezzlement of Rs11.735 million and another case involves an alleged embezzlement of Rs9.58 million.
The cases have been referred to the National Accountability Bureau by the Pakistan Post. Action will be taken under National Accountability Ordinance 1999.
The postmasters have been accused of forging fake signatures, and thumb prints, to illegally withdraw and money saved by local pensioners, savers and farmers.
