Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly rejects and condemns India’s claims
GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly passed a resolution condemning India’s claim over the land of Gilgit-Baltistan. The assembly member, unanimously, rejected India’s claim, saying the region had defeated Dogra occupiers and thrown them out of the region. The so-called accession, thus, did not apply to Gilgit-Baltistan, which has been independent for the last 70 years.
The assembly members criticized the United Nations and other world forums for failing to take India to task for murdering ordinary Kashmiris, raping women and killing children, and razing buildings to the ground, in a kafkaesque style.
The assembly members also rejected the criticism over Gilgit-Baltistan, asking opposition members to play a ‘constructive role’.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders, who opposed India’s “mindless” claims, staged a walk-out from the assembly, accusing the government of sabotaging Gilgit-Baltistan’s rights and interests.
The opposition members protested inside the assembly, saying that the Hafeez govt has conspired against Gilgit-Baltistan, compromising land ownership rights of the locals.
