Book: History of the Karakoram Highway, by Brig (r) Muhammad Mumtaz Khalid

Retired Brigadier of the Pakistan Army’s Engineering Corps, Muhammad Mamtaz Khalid, has written a book about the history of Karakoram Highway. According to official website of the book, the author has compiled the ‘first and most authentic history of KKH’ in the form of “History of Karakoram Highway”.

The book has been published in two volumes and ‘presents a comprehensive history of what is believed to be the highest paved road of the world’. In Islamabad the book is reportedly available at Mr. Book, Jinnah Super @ PKR 800 per volume.

The WEBSITE also presents an interesting collection of photographs taken during construction of the Karakoram Highway by Pakistani and Chinese Engineers, from 1966 to 1982.
