Volunteers Recognition day and Cultural Show

Gilgit, October 28: An impressive gathering, titled “Volunteers Recognition Day and Cultural Show- A Tribute to the Pioneers Voluntary Service” was organized on October 26, 2008 at Sultanabad Danyore, as part of the celebrations of H.H The Aga Khan’s first visit to the northern areas, under the auspices of the Ismaili Council for Gilgit.. People from 28 Jamath khanas located in Danyore, Sultanabad, Oshikhandass and Rahimabad participated.
The main aim of the program was to encourage and recognize the service/ khidmat of individuals who have contributed for Imamati Institutions and worked for the communities as volunteers in the period of 50 Years of Imamat. Another aim was to promote and highlight the diversity in culture & heritage of the region.
Prof. Manzoor Ali, President Ismaili Regional Council for Gilgit was the Chief Guest and presented mementoes to the recognized volunteers above the age of sixty years, who have contributed and sacrificed for the uplift of the area and institutions.
Different institutions, including Gilgit Serena Hotel’s SEED program, Aga Khan Health Service’s TB program, The First Microinsurance Agency (FMiA) and Hashoo Foundation had put up stalls and information desks providing information to the participants about their ongoing projects. The sponsors had also arranged different activities for entertaining the participants, including lucky draws and distribution of gift hampers.
