Gilani orders package for NAs
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday directed the Ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas (KANA) to propose a comprehensive package to address the problems of the people of Northern Areas to be approved by the cabinet.
Gilani assured a delegation of the Northern Areas consisting of members of Northern Areas Legislative Assembly (NALA), Speaker Malik Maskin and PML-Q Marvi Memon of his support on various administrative, political and development issues relating to their areas.
Sources privy to the meeting told Daily Times that the prime minister agreed that the issue of constitutional rights of the people of the Northern Areas needed immediate attention and the government would give preference to an Azad Jammu and Kashmir-like government in Northern Areas under its proposed package. On the issue of changing the name of Northern Areas to Gilgit-Baltistan as per resolutions of the NALA, Gilani said the issue would be taken up in the cabinet committee meeting. Source

A constitutional package will solve the long standing issue of status .We need a consensus among the North people that what we want because in the Post has many options given,The NA Assembly should ask the Federal Government waht status they want,Province or AJK kind of set up or any other way to be the part of constitution.Indeed this issue needs immidietely solved.Becasue longstanding imbiguities over such problems like representationin parliament are not good for the political health of any country.
So hopes are there but home work needed from our parliamentarians in Chinar Bagh.
by the way when did the Prime Minister announced this? I never heard this on any news channel,,, nor in any newspaper.. it it is formally announced, then why is it not getting required publicity in the press????

A package is approved for Gilgit Baltistan or Kashmir Affairs is asked to make a proposal. Again this is a tope drama. Where is the package of Musharaf? He had declared Hunza Nager as district. Why the current government is not implementing the notification. The current government is waiting for up coming election of NALA to give credit to current federal government.
Often we listen about this package. When the government is going to announce it.
M hearing it from last one year but no any action from the government if its reality than it is appreciated !!!
