Gilani’s first visit of Gilgit – Baltistan to begin today
Islamabad, Spetember 29: The first visit to Gilgit – Baltistan of any prime minister after a decade is overshadowed by the violence, death and fear that grips Gilgit city and the vicinity, in the aftermath of a small intensity bomb explosion. After the overthrowing of Mian Nawaz Sharif, back in 1999, Shaukat Aziz and Shujaat Hussain remained prime ministers of Pakistan, but none of these two visited the region as premiers.
Gilani is expected to spend two days in the region, making important announcements. He is also expected to announce “formation” of the Hunza – Nagar District, that has already been notified and incorporated in the empowerment order 2009.
People of Hunza are also expecting that formation of a new constituency in the sub – division would be announced, based on the popular demand that has brought people of Hunza to the street from Karimabad to Karachi.
