Pakistan Wetlands Programme Equips Deosai National Park Staff

Gilgit, Oct 12: The Pakistan Wetlands Programme has equipped the field staff of Deosai National Park with summer and winter uniforms, boots, heavy jackets, hand cuffs, whistles and other accessories necessary for park management.
The uniforms and equipment were handed over to the staff at the Mashabrum Hotel in a ceremony on 12th October. Commissioner skardu Mr.Asif Bilal ladhi was the Chief Guest at the occasion.
The Director of Deosai National Park (DNP), DC Skardu, specially nominated students from Skardu area schools and their teachers also participated as guests.
During the handing over ceremony, the Pakistan Wetlands Programme (PWP) Gilgit-Baltistan representative and wetlands specialist Dr. Humaira Khan said the main objective of distributing the uniforms among the DNP’s field staff was to assist them in their duties, and seek commitment from DNP management for greater protection of wildlife, and better tourist management.
“It is part of our collaboration with Deosai National Park regarding conservation efforts,” Dr. Khan said. She also said that the PWP had been working for many years to preserve the wetlands of Gilgit-Baltistan. At the end of the ceremony she asked the audience, and especially the students, to play their role in the conservation of wetlands and the environment.
