Independence Day celebrated in Gilgit city

Gilgit, October 1: Independence Day of Gilgit – Baltistan was celebrated at the historical Chinar Bagh in traditional style. Contingents of Boys scouts and police saluted the national flag. Chief Guest of the ceremony was Group Captain (r) Shah Khan, commander of the Eskimo Force, hero of the war of independence of Gilgit – Baltistan.

Also present in the ceremony was finance secretary of the GB administration, Syed Mutahir Shah, among other government officials. In his speech the chief guest said that the independence gained on November 1, sixty three years ago, shall be put to use in welfare of the general public.

The chief guest laid floral wreaths on Yaadgar-e-Shuhada, located in Chinar Bagh, near the legislative assembly building, at the bank of Hanisara river.

On this occasion students of different schools of Gilgit city participated in the independence day rally, starting from High school number Aik, near Garhi Bagh. The rally reached Yaadgar-e-Shuhada under the leadership of director of education, Abdul Khalique.

Children presented different programs at the occasion.

  1. 1st November Jashn Azadi Gilgit-Baltistan also celebtated in Liaquat Library Karachi organized by GBSA(Gilgit-Baltistan Students Alliance) hundreds of students have participated . GBLA is Alliance of all students organizations of Gilgit-Baltistan including KSO, BNSO, BSF, NSF, GSF, ASF, DSF and other small oranizations of G-B.
