“GB not linked to Kashmir”, CM Shah

Karachi, January 8: We deserve the right to react if any non local is made governer of Gilgit Baltistan. We would welcome if any local woman is designated for the governorship. These views were expressed by chief minister GB Syed Mehdi Shah while taliking to this scribe at Karachi Press Club.
Addressing a meet-the-press session at Karachi press club he asked, “If the presence of an elected president and prime minister in Azad Kashmir does not affect the Kashmir cause, how is it possible that an elected Chief minister in Gilgit-Baltistan would become detrimental for it?”. He further said, ” The people of Gilgit Baltistan have given far more sacrifices for Kashmir cause when compared to any other people in the country”.
He urged journalists not to merge Gilgit Baltistan with Kashmir. “Gilgit Baltistan has its own unique identity and historical background”, he emphasized. ‘
Talking about the scourge of sectarianism in Gilgit – Baltistan he blamed Zia ul Haq’s “divide and rule” policy. ”Zia ul haq is responsible for sectarion violence in GB who in late 80’s tried to divide the locals on sectarian basis. He was behind worst the worst type of lashkar kashi against the peaceful people of the region.”
Earlier, visiting PPP media cell karachi, he said ”Sindh is my politcal qibla and Larkana part of my political Eman:. He said that no stone will be left unturned for resolving long standing issues of the region.
