Another son of Gilgit – Baltistan keeps the Pakistani flag high

Islamabad, February 13: History was made on Saturday when the Pakistani flag was flown for the first time at the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas, an employee of the Pakistan Air Force and the lone skier from the country, will proudly represent the nation in the Alpine Skiing discipline of the Winter Games.

A press release issued by the PAF stated on Friday that the athlete has previously participated in a number of international events under the aegis of the Ski Federation of Pakistan (SFP) where he performed well, too.
Mohammad Abbas has fared well during his previous last international stints in the XIVIII World Military Ski Championship-2006 in Switzerland, the 6th Asian Winter Games-2007 in China, 15th National Ski Championship2007 in Japan and the FIS Ski Championship-2007 in Turkey.
