[Diamir dam royalty] “GB is a disputed territory”, Communication Minister, Arbab Alamgeer

PT Report

Islamabad, October 19: Federal Communication Minister, Arbab Alamgeer, has once again said that according to constitution Gilgit – Baltistan is a disputed territory, just like Kashmir. He said that according to law GB is not entitled to get any royalty because it is not constitutional part of Pakistan. He made this statement while talking about the royalty issue of Diamir Dam.

The minister also said that GB would get the “user charges” for Diamir Dam. He has also reportedly said that Governor and Chief Minister of Gilgit – Baltistan are not constitutional positions.

Statements of the federal minister confirm the analysis of independent groups, mostly nationalistic parties, that the ’empowerment and self-government order’ is nothing more than a cosmetic set-up, meant to further complicate the constitutional status of Gilgit – Baltistan region.

The nationalist circles are questioning the rationale of constructing the dam in a disputed territory. They consider construction of the Dam in Diamir as a brazen land grabbing attempt by the government of Pakistan. The nationalists also demand of the United Nation to take notice of the ‘neo-colonial colonization of Gilgit – Baltistan’.

  1. As far as the constitutional rights of GB are concerned , they are nothing but just a bullshit. According to the federal minister what he said about the royalty of Diamer-basha dam, i will confirm his misunderstanding that the disputed territory of kashmir , in mirpur where they construct the mangla dam given the people a full bright royalty in mid 60’s, which was indeed a disputed and non-constitutional area. It is clear to all the mass that you FM belong to a regional extremist party ANP and need all the royalty to your homeland KPK. if the rival country can give the royalty rights for what they made in kashmir, kishan ganga, Kirthai Dam on Chenab River
    Sawalkot Dam on Chenab River
    Pakal-Dul Dam on Chenab River
Bursar Dam on Marusudar River in Doda District
    then whay not you……???????
Mr. katputli CM and Governer go for it and show the people that you really belong to the motherland.

  2. the other side of the picture and it is so clear. Bravo man, u are 100% right and I agree with each and every single word you have written. how many others can raise their voice……. is any one else there please?????????????

  3. Shame on the so-called government officials of Pakistan. this proves that GB was, is and will not be part of Pakistan. it should be declareds as an independant state.
    Good luck

  4. what will the CM and Governor do for the people of GB.
they are helpless and they dont know how to talk what they will do for the people….

  5. KPK Minister has given indication that No Royalty will be shared with GB government. so this is rousing message and challenge for people of GB. CM of GB should raise vice against these evil plans of Federal and KPK government.

    Long Live Gilgit-Baltistan.

  6. I think this issue needs to be resolved once for all.

If Gb is part of Pakistan ( which I think it is) then citizens of GB should be paying Income tax and sales tax. try it ,it is fun paying taxes.

I also recall there is recent decision of Supreme Court which has laid down the law about constitutional status of GB.

If only politicians of GB had some loyalty to GB and protected the interest of people of GB a lot can be done.

  7. What a strange logic of the minister (of the government which is about to sink due to its corruption)! When these people have to beg for votes in GB, they call it 5th province of Pakistan and when there is the question of compensating the GB people for their loss due to construction of Diamir Dam (which is going to play the role of a vital pillar for the economy of Pakistan), they find no relation of GB with Pakistan! Can there be a better degree of hypocrisy than this!

  8. The people of GB should follow the “No royalty, No dam” policy. Every effort should be made to turn down the project if the spoils from the dam are not given to GB.

The hostiliy of KPK towards GB is not new. The guy with a red nose (aftab sherpao) was the minister of KANA in last PPP government who used devious tactics to divert the route of a proposed highway through Yasin Valley to Central asia. The project was highly feasible if it was to be contructed through GB but later on it was scrapped as its contruction through KPK and afghanistan was not viable.

The people of GB have always been treated as ‘EXTRAS’ by successive pakistani governments. No good can be expected from them. The time has come to do a rethink.

  9. @SIMON ROMAERO.. it seems that u have only heard the name of Sales tax and Income Tax but dont have any idea about its working and enforcement. We the People of GB are paying sales tax and Customs duty much better then others in Pakistan.i hope when i get let me list you all the sources from which GB pays to Pakistan for nothing in return.

  10. This statement reflects the real and actual face and views of Pakistan government that still every government does not consider GB as the part of state. Due to the construction of Diamer dam more than 80% of our land is submerged. We will face the hardships of leaving our homes, fertile fields and grazing places and settlement in a new area away from our near and dear ones. This statement clrifies that we the people of GB are not Pakistani. The people of GB strictly condemn this statement and demand for the so-called ‘Pathan’ Minister’s resignation. Because such wolves in human garb have no legitimacy to become member of parliament and minister. The so-called minister should clarify his statement and apologise from the people of GB. Nobody in or outside parliament took a notice on this vulgourus statement, which is shocking for us. Even our so-called ‘illeterate’ leaders didn’t take a notice on this humerous statement which is a matter of unfortunate.
The government of Pakistan has given us a so-called autonomy so that the voices and protests against the construction of some valueable dams like Diamer dam, bonji dam, sadpara dam etc, could be stoped. It means we will destroy and inundate ourselvws to benefit and to save other privinces. keeping in view the above mentioned facts and injustices the youth of GB are going towards nationalism which may casue a chaos and subversion in near future.
In GB nonlocal bureauctares hold the whole region and they run the the administrative affairs by their own will and intention. These bureaucrates and agencies are responsible for unrest in Gilgit. Because they don’t want prosperity and peace in the region. The Punjabis and Pathans play whole this game and some our foolish dwellers become part of this conspiracy by assisting them. Forexample, deployment of Punjab Rangers and FC in the region. They never demand an autonomous local police force or nascent Northern Scouts. These foolish people are not aware that non- local rangers and FC are not sincere to this region, they are extra burden on our budget.

we must be united for our commen goals that is autonomy to GB. If the Shia and Sunni Punjabis are united for their region, if Shia and sunni Pathan show unity for their own interest, if Shia and Sunni Sindhis are eager to their regional autonomy, if Shia and Sunni Baluchis fight for their rights and if Kashmiri Shia and Sunni are struggling to achieve their rights……. then why we are divede in different sects and groups??? Why are we acting on Pakistani establishment’s policy i.e. “Divide and rule”.
For God sake! we should be sincere to this land and our new generation.

Your valueable comments are most welcome…

  11. Instead of loathing him, we must be thankful to the Pathan minister for being straight, at least once in his life, and lucid.

He has stated nothing but the fact. GB is not part of Pakistan. We always knew it. Only the more-royal-than-king lot of hollow-patriots is rising from the slumber, and that for good.

We (the traitors) had used all forums to expose the delusional autonomy package. We always knew that the rubber-stamp GBLA will be used to justify construction of dams, highways and other mega drilling projects in Gilgit – Baltistan. A Kashmiri Chief Minister, Mehdi Shah, had been installed by the agencies for this purpose only.

The people of GB shall demolish the assembly hall if GBLA members become a party to the whims of Pathans and Punjabis. We do not need this stupid house of paid and fed puppets who have unlearned all lessons in self esteem.

The sitting parliament shall amend the constitution to make provisions for paymetn of royalty to GB, because that only our right.

We, the arm-chair activists shall dust off our self-esteem and get ready to take the guns in our hands. If our forefathers could fight the Dogras, we can certainly fight the Pathans and Punjabis. At least we will be able to die in honor.

Our land is our mother and we shall not let anyone to grab it.

WHY THE NAME IS GIVEN BASHA? MY QUESTION?
WHY THE HELL ,WATER BELONGS TO GB?LAND BELONGS TO GB
WHATS THE LOGIC THAT PAKHOONISTAN WILL GET THE ROYALTY AND NOT GILGIT-BALTISTAN(PEOPLE IN CLASS 1 CAN ASNWER ALL THESE QUESTIONS)

FOR GOD SACK PAKISTAN ADMINISTRATION DOES NOT HAVE THE RIGHTS TO PLAY WITH THE LIFES AND PEOPLE OF GILGIT/BALTISTAN

    LET ME TELL YOU….?
world bank dit not sanctions the Loan budget for this project due to Indians seating on the Top position at World bank so,Pakistani proposal for the amount Requested at World bank was rejected due to Indian high officials claiming this part as Indian Terreitory.
this was played by Pakistani govt to tell the world bank and convicne them for the loan sanctions from IMF.(that was the reason to keep this name Basha)
Now the reality is this..Land belongs to GB,People and the dam is going to be built in Gilgit -Baltistan,
Where as now we have our full rights to claim the full Royalty from this dams and projects all benefits must be given only and only to the People of Gilgit-baltisatn.

after all Chinese govt our best neighbour is now intrested to give the loan and also to build this dam,

Without any hesitations our Pakistan govt have to be 100% sincere with People of Gilgit-Baltistan.No more games ,no more dramas. We have to see Whats reality?

We strongly reject all these propagandas used against the People of Gilgit-Baltistan,lets not forget Indian and Pakistan are claiming everything from us.Where as we the citizens of Gilgit-Baltistan are getting Zero % benefit from govt of Pakistan
We Reject all alligations and all kind of means used to stop us from Claiming our basic rights of being a citizen of Pakistan.

We are all one GB. We are proud to be from Gilgit-Baltistan

Now the ball is in “Our Court” We all now Know how to Play it.

Long live Gilgit-Baltistan————-with due request Basha name must immediately be removed from the list. This dam is called. Gilgit-Baltisan dam or else only Diamir Dam Nothing more we asking from govt of Pakistan but our Royalty for the People of Gilgit -Baltisatn.
We Residents of Gilgit-Baltistan have to Raise once Voice ” United Gilgit-Baltistan”
    Pakistan Payeenda Abad

  13. Ist of all I suggest every person to go through the questions raised by Mr.K.D WAkhi… the reality will be cleared to u all.
As for as my opinion is concerned, I must put a logic in front of all of you.
For example IF, someone from, somewhere else (whom I don’t know about) comes to my home & tries to impose his/her rules n laws in my home, although the home is mine, THEN, what should I do???
The answer is simple and it is ” A LOUD “NO” TO THAT FOREIGN INVADER”. Dears, it is the time to say NO to these invaders who are trying to impose their dirty laws in GILGIT-BALTISTAN.
It seems a jock that the land is ours, the resources being used are ours then WHY the compensation is not given to us??? WHY the benefits of DIAMER-BASHA dam are being enjoyed by Pakhtuns & Punjabis???

TIME TO THINK—–TIME TO SAY NO TO DIAMER-BASHA DAM

  14. Mr. SIMON DOMAERO….!!
I would like to suggest one thing for you,
” Please do read what the history says and what the local people say about the Diamer-Basha dam, then comment on these issues.
    Thanks.

  15. I go for “No royalty, No dam” and I request the admin of this site of create a poster until the issue is not resolved .
If someone wants to mess with GB people lets start the play our great grand fathers had played with “Dogers” and show them straight path 😉

Before going for any political struggle we must – must – must dilute the difference (specifically religious one ,artificially created and imbeded into our mind by intelligence agencies )

We have served Pakistan with our blood , and will serve it for name of Allah . But something is really itching me and all BG people bcz :

    a) When and who declared the GB disputed ? Pakistan or Indian ? and who is authorize to do so if the people of Pakistan have willingly joined with Pakistan.

    b) Why people don’t understand
Gilgilti NOT EQUAL to …. Kashmiri

  16. with much being built, hearts contended and an assured mechanism of governance brought into play-One finds such deplorable statement from a federal minister, Disgusting. This gives the reflection of the -spaghetti politics, the federal is doing in GB.If all the political set up is unconstitutional then:
Why the major national political parties are being propagated there?
Was the PM’s visit,a mere dodge,or he was there just to have a look on gigantic mountains?
what actually were the snack of constitutional rights, that the PM mentioned there.
y d nasty cookies of decisions for GB are made in Islamabad?
    WHO r( governor,CM,DC),? i.e illegal tattoos?
The revered minister’s views delineate how good he was in Pakistan studies-the much neglected subject.Nevertheless his label of ‘communication..minister” is a mere mockery of his Being. The people of GB,specially the youth would love to address him better.Though, its useless to comment,on what hE said,i must assure, that the patriots of GB are fully aware of every move, and we know how to secure our rights. We are an integral part of this country and share an internationally accepted border with China.
Pakistan is at the verge of becoming a banana republic, and such ministers ought to map their lips before they speak up.
    Geo GILGIT-BALTISTAN
