Walking on the frozen lake in Gojal Valley banned

PT Report

Hunza, January 23: The Hunza – Nagar district administration has imposed a ban on people’s movement over the frozen lake formed in Gojal Valley due to damming of the Hunza River near Attabad.

Two police posts have been opened on both ends of the lake to stop people from walking on the lake. “The surface has started developing cracks and there is threat for human lives”, according to the deputy commissioner, Zafar Taj.

The DC said that those breaking the law will be taken to task. He appealed for cooperation from the common people. The ban will applicable for the next two months.

It is pertinent to note that there is no road between Hussaini village and Gulmit and the people are forced to walk through rough terrain for inter-village movement.
