Governor Gilgit – Baltistan visits native village, unprecedented welcome

Chatorkhand, February 3 (TR): The recently nominated governor of Gilgit – Baltistan, Pir Karam Ali Shah, was given an unprecedented welcome in his native village. People from Silpi, Guludas, Hasis, Famani, Birgil and Kochdeh came to receive the leader. Traditional “Ishpiri” was also presented for the Governor, who also enjoys religious eminence in the region.
On arrival in Chatorkhand, the Pir was accorded a very warm welcome by village elders and leaders. He was laden with floral garlands and people lined up on both sides of the road to look at the governor. It is pertinent to note that Syed Karam Ali Shah has won all elections from this area since 1970.
A contingent of police presented guard of honour to the Governor on arrival at the residence. A delegation of flood affectees also met the governor and presented him a gift of floral garland.
Speaking to the people the new Governor said that spreading peace and harmony in Gilgit – Baltistan is his primary mission . “Gift me peace”, the governor said.
He thanked the people of Ishkoman Valley and all other parts of Gilgit – Baltistan for the warm welcome. “Th reforms in Gilgit – Baltistan are steps towards completion of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s and Benazir Bhutto’s dream for the region”, Syed Karam Ali Shah said. He thanked President Zardari and Premier Gilani and other PPP leaders and cabinet members for appointing him governor of the region.
Speaking at the occasion GB Education Minister, Ali Madad Sher, said that PPP is a party of the poor. “The far flung Tehsil of Ghizar got the opportunity to lead Gilgit – Baltistan twice”, he said, referring to Karam Ali Shah’s former position as deputy Chief Executive of the Northern Areas Legislative Council.
He further said that the people of Ghizar will never forget PPP.
Ali Madad Sher also said that all schools of thoughts in Gilgit – Baltistan respect Pir Karam Ali Shah as a neutral and wise leader.
Congratulations to Pir Karam Ali Shah to be the second Governor of GB. I am confident under his able leadership the people of Ishkoman valley will get prosperity , quality education and the most important achievement will be poverty alleviation.
