Director Nisar Ahmed's "Burning Paradise" is one of the winners at Alpviram Award 2011

Nisar Ahmed, a young filmaker belonging to Gojal Valley of Gilgit – Baltistan. He is a graduate of the National College of Arts, Lahore.

According to information available on official website of Alpviram Award 2011, a jury has declared young director Nisar Ahmed’s documentary titled “Burning Paradise” as one of the winners, for “its courageous depiction of the violations of human rights in the name of religion and the helplessness of women and the wider society in the face of violence”. The documentary was focused on the violence hit Swat valley, of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province.

It is here to note that Nisar and other participants from Pakistan were refused visa by the Indian Embassy on ‘security’ grounds.
