[Obituary] Awal Baig, father of GB Finance Secretary, passed away in Gilgit

Ghulkin, April 11: According to information received Awal Baig, 87, father of GB Finance Secretary, Gul Baig, has passed away at a hospital in Gilgit city. He was also the father of Sharif Khan (PDCN), Saleem Khan (AKHSP) and their sisters.
Late Awal Baig was a prominent social leader of the Gojal Valley and a renowned polo player. His death has been widely condoled by people across the region.

He was one of the key polo player representing Hunza/Gojal at Gilgit in polo matches during 70’s.

We are thakful to all of you who came to us and showed their sympathy during the short illness of my great father.
We are really shocked by the sudden demise of my father at Gilgit Hospital.
My father was a dedicated farmer and a development worker of his time and contributed in irrigating barren lands of the difficult terrain of Ghulkin and Borith Gojal that benifited the whole community.He He was a hard worker and very steady person and had an urge for achievement.
My father was a great polo player and represented Gojal Polo team at the annual Polo tournament at Shahi Shawaren Gilgit with his team mate Mr Zaffarullah Baig Ali Baqa,Dowlat Baig,Bakhtwar Khan and Ali Raza.
Polo was the only organized sports at that time that was a single source of pleasure at that time.My father was an honest and straight forward person and he always thought the betterment of his area and his people.He always directed us to study whenever he saw we are free at home.He loved his all family members specially his grand childreen.He was a man of crises and hardship,he always contributed in all social services at village level specially in intervillage harmoney.
May God Bless his soul in eternal peace and give us the courage to bear this shocking moment of our life with grace.
