Six people killed in Kargah Road accident
4 women, a 10 year old child and a man among the dead, 9 injured

Gilgit, May 26: Six people, including a 10 year old child, four women and a man, were killed and 9 were injured in a tragic road accident near Gilgit city today.
According to details a Jeep (GLT -B 5710) coming to Gilgit city from Kargah fell into a glacial stream, killing of five of the passengers and the driver, identified as Nosherwan, a resident of Kargah. The accident, allegedly, took place due to over-speeding.
A district official has told the media that the driver was unable to control the vehicle while taking a sharp turn on the Kargah road.
Local people, officials of the district administration and volunteers of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reached the spot and helped in search and rescue operations. The injured were shifted to hospitals where most are said to be out of danger.
The Kargah Road is not new to such accidents.
Dozens of people have lost their life or limbs while manoeuvring on the zig-zag uphill path located in the vicinity of Gilgit city.
