Student nominations on 10 seats of AJK medical colleges, GB Government still undecided

Gilgit, January 9: Tens of students are faced with uncertainty due to the GB Education Department’s indecision regarding nomination of students for 10 medical seats allocated at colleges in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
A government official told Pamir Times that the AJK Government has already notified the increase in quota seats for medical students and nominations had to be submitted by January 10. But so far the GB government has failed to initiate the process of collecting nomination papers.
According to some students and parents, who requested anonymity, the GB government has decided to “award” 3 of the 10 seats to “important persons within the provincial set-up”, instead of following transparent procedures to ensure selection of meritorious students.
The non-serious attitude of GB government in general and Education Minister in particular has caused anxiety among the deserving students by putting their academic careers at stack.
Hopeful students and parents have demanded of the government to take immediate steps to ensure that the reserved seats are not left open, or filled without following due procedure.
