Shishkat, May 6: The people of Gojal Valley, Upper Hunza, as well as businessmen, labourers and tourists are risking their lives while using the remains of a dilapidated bridge for moving between Shishkat and Gulmit, two of the most populated villages of the Gojal Valley.

The bridge has been destroyed due to the increase in water flow but so far no alternative has been provided for the commuters, forcing them to use the remains of the destroyed bridge.

Two wooden planks are being use to connect the bridge with the bank of the river.

The work on construction of a huge bridge at the same spot is underway. However, its construction is likely to take more than a year.

  1. Challenging and alarming situation for management and leadership of area. bridges or roads are constructed for providing relief to public but this type of bridges seems a well of death for pedestrians. I would request the local volunteers and management to not allow to cross this bridge.Such bridges are equal to inviting death as well. Please banned it and save the precious lives.
