EU Ambassador to Pakistan attends KADO i-Tech alumni reunion in Hunza

Hunza: Euopean Union’s Ambassador to Pakistan, LarsGunnar Wigemark, along with other diplomats and EU officials attended the reunion of Karakuram Area Development Network’s i-tech alumni held in Karimabad, Hunza Valley.

The gathering was also attended by Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, Syed Mehdi Shah, GBLA Speaker Wazir Baig, Finance Minister Muhamamd Ali Akhtar, among others.

KADO has been implementing a project, supported by the European Union and other organizations, aimed at youth development in the region. As part of the training IT Centers have been established in Skardu, Gahkuch, Gilgit, Karimabad and Gulmit where the trainees are being prepared to capitalize on the economic opportunities created by expansion of Information and Communication Technology.

Speaking at the occasion, KADO CEO apprised the participants of the project’s progress and achievements. He also said that through the project KADO has been able to create a pool of skilled youth who are capable to contributing towards the global economy with the help of Information and Communication Technologies. He also said that by introducing 3G and 4G celluar technologies in the Gilgit-Baltistan region, the government can lead the region out of financial and economic difficulties.
