First-ever winter ascent of Nanga Parbat
Islamabad: Three climbers, Alex Txikon, Ali Sadpara and Simon Monro have reportedly reached the summit of the 8,126 meters high Nanga Parbat. This is the first-ever winter ascent of what is also known as the Killer Mountain.
According to information available on social media, the three mountaineers, including Ali Sadpara from Baltistan (Pakistan) were able to reach the summit, while one of their companions Tamara Lunger stopped few meters below the summit.
The mountaineers will spend the night at Camp 4, 7,200 meters high, and return to the Base Camp tomorrow. Successful descent to the base camp will have completed the first ever winter ascent/descent of the Nanga Parbat.
